"Open source accounts for between 25 and 70 percent of all software in Australian, Chinese, Indian and Korean companies, according to a recent IDC survey."

IDC analysts suggested that "...most organisations in the Asia-Pacific region are opting for open-source software because they perceive it to offer better protection against security breaches,.."

The IDC survey on which this report is based was held February-March 2007 and involved "top executives from about 1,000 companies of all sizes."
